Pashley Ladies’ range…

March 26th, 2014 | No Comments »

For the ladies who appreciate a bicycle steeped in heritage, which is ‘different by design… distinctive by nature’, then we have a great range of Pashley bikes available both online and in store.

Pashley cycles was founded by William ‘Rath’ Pashley over 80 years ago, and since then they’ve been producing their handbuilt bicycles in the UK. There’s a nice page on their site which highlights their manufacturing process.

With 3 and 5 speed Sturmey Archer geared hubs, and Brook’s saddles, Pashley cycles are the perfect match for the town and country cyclist who values individuality, comfort, and a low maintenance commute or recreational ride.

Prices start from just £450, so have a look at our range online, where we’ll keep adding new products, or pop into our new Cycle Centre.

Genesis Bikes – complete range available!

March 4th, 2014 | No Comments »

Now we’ve moved to a bigger premises, we have the luxury of being able to stock a broader range of bikes. We at UC:HQ can’t get enough of Genesis Bikes. We sell them, we ride them… so we’re pretty happy to be able to stock their complete range of award-winning British-designed Mountain, Road and Cyclo-cross bikes. British bikes for British conditions…

Genesis Bikes are classically designed and carefully considered. Each bike has been designed with a ‘built to last’ philosophy. Click here for the entire range in our online store.

We can wax lyrical about their bikes, but we thought we’d give Genesis Bikes the honour…

“We aren’t the biggest brand or perhaps the coolest, we don’t spend the most on marketing and definitely haven’t been around the longest, we aren’t at the pointy end of the latest fad and don’t take ourselves too seriously either… but what we are serious about is delivering an ever-broader range full of only really good bikes.”

If it’s road you’re after, you should take a look at their no nonsense Volant aluminium range, from £599.99 on Shimano Claris, to £899 with Tiagra, or the steel framed Equilibrium range, priced from £899.99 with Shimano Sora, £1,099 with Tiagra to £1299,99 with Shimano 105.

The Genesis Equilibrium Range

The next step up from the Genesis Equilibrium range, is the Volare 00 in the Madison Genesis Team colours, and if you pop into the store you can see the stunning Volare 20 Ultegra, built using next generation Reynolds ’931′ super steel (only 17% chromium = really low rust!), stiff enough to race, yet comfy enough for all-day training rides.

For your go anywhere ‘multi-sport’ bikes, check out the disc equipped Croix De Fer, also available in Reynolds ’931‘ super steel, and it’s more affordable sibling the CDF at £849. Both bikes are superb all rounders, happily mile munching on gravel, mud or tarmac. In fact, Vin Cox circumnavigated the globe on one in 2010, breaking the World Record…

There’s also the bomb-proof Day One ‘Urban Cross’ range, coming in a single speed Day One Disc at £699, 8-Speed Alfine at £999, or the crazy awesome Di2 Alfine at £2,199.

Genesis Day 01

The Genesis Day-One Range

Last but not least in the adventure range, is the Vapour. Although aimed toward Cyclocross, with its lightweight, triple-butted 6069 Aluminium frame, the Vapour is a versatile beast suitable for mid week commuting with rear rack and mudguard eyelets.

With their established pedigree in strong steel, Genesis have developed a reputable range of well thought out Hardtail Mountain Bikes. Our stand out model is the 27.5″ wheeled High Latitude LT with Reynolds 631 steel tubing, and RockShox Reba forks.

For the 29er fans amongst us, there’s the High Latitude, and Aluminium Mantle 20 and Mantle 10, both sporting Continental Tyres and RockShox forks, offering a great value entry into hardtail mountain biking.

Trek 2014 Crockett Cyclocross

September 26th, 2013 | No Comments »

Trek 2014

The golden glow of an Indian Summer may be lingering but the early morning bite of Autumn is very much in evidence and Cyclocross Season is underway.

The Trek Cyclocross Collective have pretty much had USA cross in the bag for the last couple of years, but last season saw Trek CXC take things up a notch when Katie Compton (AKA Katie F’n Compton) secured the 12/13 CX World Championships.

Plenty of bikes out there carry the strapline “Race Proven” yet so often bear only a passing resemblance to the bikes being ridden at Pro Level. In the Case of the Trek Crockett 2014, this is no empty claim:

“The choice of World Cup Champion Katie Compton of the Trek Cyclocross Collective, Crockett was developed through a year of elite cross racing under the best in the world. The geometry is 100% focused on getting to the finish line first. With a lower BB, slacker head tube, steeper seat tube and both internal and external cable routing options, the Crockett is ready to conquer any cross course. Its IsoSpeed fork and 3S chainkeeper keeps riders confident when the course gets hairy, and it’s available in disc and cantilever options.”

Compared the Ion CX model offered in previous years, Crockett makes for a more forward, race-oriented riding position.

The Crockett includes 3 Models: TheTrek Crockett 5 Disc, Trek Crockett 7 and Trek Crockett 7 Disc.

A couple of the UC Team have been racing on Trek CX bikes for the last few seasons and racking up some pretty impressive results, we’ll keep you posted on how they (and the bikes) get on :)
